Run FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: How long is the St. Patrick's Day Parade Run?
A: 5 miles.

Q: What time does the Run begin?
A: 9:00 AM.

Q: Must I be a competitive runner?
A: We welcome runners of all skill and experience levels. You can register as a competitive or non-competitive runner.

Q: Where can I find race results, after the Run?
A: Only competitive runners will have their times recorded and published. If you would like to see your time published, you should register as a competitive runner. Competitive runners will be issued electronic timing chips. They must be returned at the conclusion of the Run, or you will be assessed a non-return fee.

Q: How old must I be to participate in the Run?
A: Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome. Please note that streets will reopen after the bulk of the pack has passed, so slower runners may be asked to make their way to the sidewalks. Prizes for Competitive runners are awarded in categories from ages 14 & under through 70 & over.

Q: Do you allow walking, jogging strollers, and/or pets?
A: Walking participants and jogging strollers are allowed in the Run, however we ask that you be considerate of the other runners. Please register as a non-competitive participant, and for the safety of yourselves and your children, we ask that you start near the back of the pack. Remember that streets will re-open to traffic once the running pack has passed, so you will likely need to use the sidewalk after a while. Pets are not allowed in the Run.

Q: Where is the T-Shirt pick-up?
A: Starting March 3, once you have received your Run number, just bring that number to Rio Syrup Company, Inc, from 10:00 to 3:00 PM Monday-Friday, and you will be able to pick up your shirt. Or, you may pick it up at the Run Check-in, from 7:30 to 9:00 AM on Run morning, while supplies last. Shirts will not be available at the check-in location after the Run, or during the Parade. Contact us for details on how to pick up your shirt during the weeks after the Run, if you don't receive one beforehand.

Q. Who do I contact with further questions?
A. Send an Email message or call the Run office at
314-231-2598

Q: What prizes are awarded?
A: The top 10 finishers in each of the competitive divisions will receive medals or ribbons.

Q: Has the St. Patrick's Day Parade Run ever been cancelled?
A: No. In extremely bad weather, we might make the run a non-competitive event, for the safety of all runners. This happened in 2000; in that case, prizes were awarded by lottery.

Q: How long has this event existed?
A: We are pleased to announce that this is our 30th year!

Q: Where should I park on Run Day?
A: The finish line is at 18th Street, so you might consider parking in lots located in this area. Parking near the starting line at 9th and Market Street may be limited. Runners are encouraged to take Metrolink from the Union Station or Civic Center stop to the Stadium stop, and walk two blocks north to the starting line.
