St. Patrick's Day Parade

The 2008 St. Patrick's Day Parade in St. Louis, the 39th annual, will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 12:00 noon, in Downtown St. Louis. The Parade takes place "rain or shine". It will begin at 18th and Market Streets, and proceed east to its conclusion at Broadway and Market Streets. We encourage you to visit the Parade Route page for additional details.
Regularly noted as one of the top in the country, the Parade will be comprised of over 120 units, including marching bands, floats, huge cartoon-character balloons, 5000+ marchers, and lots of clowns. Over 250,000 spectators, the largest of any event in Downtown St. Louis, are expected to attend, packing the streets with smiling Irish eyes and festive green attire..
This year, we will welcome two distinguished guests from Ireland.
Micheál Ó Giobúin (Michael Gibbons) is our Guest of Honor. He is the Principal of Coláiste Ailigh, a school in Letterkenny, Ireland.
Noel Ahern, TD, Minister of State for Public Works, represents the Irish government. From the St. Louis area, Joseph F. Shaughnessy, Jr., Chairman of BSI Constructors, is the Honorary Parade Marshal. In addition, Hon. Francis Slay, Mayor of St. Louis, and other local and regional officials, will join our distinguished guests and the Parade's General Chairman in leading this year's Parade.
Food and drink will be sold at numerous locations along the parade route. Many of the booths will serve soft drinks, hot dogs, burgers, bratwurst, and beer, along with other snacks and novelties. In addition, visit the Irish Village, at Kiener Plaza, or the Party at the Start, at Aloe Plaza, for food, fun, and entertainment all day long.
